Effective March 21, 2024, the New Jersey Department of Health and New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development have updated the eligibility requirements for asbestos refresher training.

All members wishing to renew their New Jersey asbestos license must bring their current New Jersey license to the refresher class.

Statement from the New Jersey Department of Health:
The DOH has been in contact with the NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development (DOLWD) to verify their asbestos permit renewal requirements. Students must meet the following requirements to take a NJ asbestos refresher class and be issued an Asbestos Training Information Record (ASB-24):

  • · The student must possess a New Jersey asbestos permit in the discipline of the refresher class.
  • · The student must take refresher training three (3) to six (6) months prior to the expiration of their asbestos permit.
  • · Applications must be submitted prior to the expiration of the permit.
  • · Any individual whose permit has lapsed will be required to take initial training.
  • · Any student who does not meet the above requirements cannot be allowed to take a NJ asbestos refresher, nor can an ASB-24 form be issued to the student for the refresher course.

If you have any questions pertaining to DOLWD requirements, you can contact them at (609) 633-3760.
